A hub of international expertise

The Maison de la paix is a place to meet, to think and to act. Opened in 2013, it enables synergies fostering innovative and efficient solutions to promote peace, human security and sustainable development.

It is located in the heart of international Geneva, which strengthens its role and outreach on a national and global scale.

Owned by the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, the Maison de la paix is one of Western Switzerland’s contemporary architectural achievements.


What we do

The Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies is an independent institution of research and higher education specialising in the study of world affairs.

The Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD), the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP) and the DCAF – Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance are dedicated to the civil promotion of peace, security and development.

In addition to administrative offices, the Maison de la paix features several areas that are open to the public:

The Kathryn and Shelby Cullom Davis Library

4500 m2 on two floors with 330 work spaces

The cafeteria

Open Monday to Thursday from 7am to 6pm
and Friday from 7am to 5pm.
During the semester holidays, the cafeteria will close at 17h00.

Le Restaurant

With panoramic views of Geneva, the Alps and Lake Geneva, open at lunchtime from Monday to Friday and available for group reservations in the evening

Auditoriums

Including the 558-seat Ivan Pictet auditorium, which can be divided into two sections of 348 seats (A1A) and 210 seats (A1B), and a separate 92-seat auditorium (A2)

Classrooms and meeting rooms

For up to 60 people.
